What Can I Glaze Ham With?

Do I Have to Cook the Glaze?
This glaze could have been brought to a boil to bring a smoother look before basting. We did not bake this glaze and it was fine. Making it and then baking the ham allowed the sugars to melt (they may not completely melt).

Do I Use a Spiral Cut Ham or Boneless Ham?
This is going to be your personal preference. Spiral sliced ham and bone in cooked hams will be less expensive. They also have a bone in them and you won’t get all the ham off the bone, a little more fat. Boneless hams will cost more, but you have less waste and more meat.

Over baking ham can make your ham mushy. If you are baking your ham and it’s a precooked ham, you do not need to bake it again, it just needs to be warmed up to hot (read directions on the package to know what kind you purchased). Also if you have ever baked a ham with pineapple juice, fresh pineapple juice especially, can make your ham mushy. How? By putting it on too soon. The last 15 minutes of baking is best for pineapple.
