Easy Slow Cooker Turkey Breast With Stuffing
Delicious Slow Cooker Turkey Breast Dinner
There is always a problem with the holidays of having enough room the oven to cook everything. Crock pot turkey dinner can be made easily year around. I love making a slow cooker turkey breast dinner. It’s less work and all the goodness of a turkey dinner.
I cooked the turkey in my 7 quart slow cooker. The smaller slow cooker (round one) did not accommodate the stuffing too. We used a 6 pound turkey breast, not an entire turkey.
How Long Does It Take to Cook Turkey in The Slow Cooker?
A 4 pound turkey breast will take 5-6 hours to cook. You want the temperature to reach 165F to be done.
Does I Need To Add Any Liquid Into The Slow Cooker?
You an added a cup of water at the bottom of the slow cooker (in the bag). As the turkey cooks, it will release it’s own juice. You can added chicken stock to keep the turkey moist.
Set temperature to low and cook about 6 hours. Cook until the turkey temperature is 165F degrees, according to the Food Safety site (mine was 175F).
Can You Add Stuffing Into A Turkey?
We definitely enjoy stuffing with our turkey. The safety guidelines are to cook the stuffing outside of the turkey to ensure it reaches 165F temperature. The stuffing can be place outside the turkey cavity (and called dressing). The stuffing will crisp up and get some of the flavored juices from the turkey. Because of this, there may be little or no gravy if the stuffing soaks all the juices up while cooking.
Do I Need To Add Liquid To Slow Cooker When Cooking Turkey?
You will want to add liquid to the slow cooker to keep the turkey from drying out While we put liquid in the stuffing, we also added additional chicken stock to the stuffing to keep it from drying out. We also use a slow cooker liner, to contain the liquid and make for easy clean up.
Serving Side Dishes With Turkey
You can make green bean casserole, baked beans, corn, glazed carrots, beets. Whatever sides your family will enjoy, serve them to compliment your turkey.
