how to make homemade garlic butter spread
Garlic great is one of those things where you either like a lot of the butter or you are wanting more or less garlic. So when I started making our own garlic butter spread, I was able to tweak it how we like it. With garlic, but not over powering. And depending on how thick you spread it on, determines how buttery you want your bread.
1 stick butter (room temperature)
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon Italian herb seasoning
1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
pinch of ground black pepper
1 loaf Italian bread, sliced in half (long ways)
In a small bowl, add the butter and herbs. Mix thoroughly with a fork.
To use the butter, preheat the oven to 350F.
With the cut french bread, put a nice coat of the garlic butter spread and cover the cut end of the french bread. Place the bread on a flat pan and bake for 1o to 15 minutes or until the butter is melted and the bread is slightly crisp (or longer if you like crisp garlic bread).
Cut into smaller pieces and enjoy with your favorite dishes like spaghetti or lasagna.
