I love shopping at our local antique store. We find all sorts of great things to decorate with and use as projects. I found this farm thing that I thought it would make a great flower for the front of our house. See how you too can paint farm parts. This one was painted into a sun flower look.
What Supplies Are Needed?
farm part that you want to make into a flower
2-3 cans of metal paint colors (yellow, orange, brown)
stripping pads
cardboard (like toilet paper roll) to block paint
Sunflowers From Farm Parts
Take your metal piece and use the stripping pad to remove any rough areas. You may need to wipe down the piece with a cloth if there is dust.
Once it is sanded, paint the piece the main base color. For me, this was yellow. Allow to dry and apply another coat.
Once dry, take the brown paint and spray it into the middle in a small circle. Apply a second coat of needed and allow to dry.
Cover the middle section with the cardboard cylinder.
Apply the orange paint into the middle section and allow to dry.
If desired, spray a very light coat of brown on the orange to break up the color of orange (like an overspray).
If you make a mistake, repaint and start over or where you feel you need to fix.
My farm part was pretty heavy, so it leans up against my house.
