Uncovering Sawmill Creek Resort - A Lake Erie Getaway

The lake is calling and I must go. As soon as it starts to get warm, I start looking for a place to visit. I want to vacation somewhere warm and near water.

We often visit Ohio as it’s a quick drive from Michigan and has so many great places (like Cedar Point, Put in Bay and Merry-Go-Round-Museum), to visit and it’s just off of Lake Erie. Cedar Point is a favorite place to visit and the Sawmill Creek Resort is owned by them (so bonus). I recently stayed at Sawmill Creek, thanks to Shore and Islands Ohio.

Look for the resorts sign off of Highway 6 and take a short drive back and to the right to get to the hotel.

It’s Not Just a Hotel

Sawmill Creek Resort is not just a hotel, it’s a resort. You can find onsite restaurants, two pools and a golf course that is a 4 minute walk on property. Inside the clubhouse you will find one of the five restaurants on property, so it gets two thumbs up for me when I don’t need to go far for relaxing and dinner plans.

Did you see the sign above? It IS a Cedar Point property that is just a few miles from Cedar Point itself. Who wouldn’t want to spend the day at Cedar Point and come back and relax pool side and golf in the afternoon?

Inside the Room

Stepping inside the room, you have the area for your luggage and the ironing board on one side and the bathroom to the other. Walking a couple steps more, you are into the main part of the room with the beds, fridge, microwave and TV. There is a desk where you can set up your laptop as well.

I stayed on the ground floor and had a view of the outdoor pool.

The beds were comfortable. So much so after driving 6 hours, I took a 2 hour nap and didn’t hear a peep outside my room.

The bathroom comes with a huge walk in shower and lots of room to move around. I loved that it had a attached mirror next to the large mirror to get ready.

The room comes with a microwave and there was a fridge that had a glass door. This was perfect for if you might forget to take things with you (which I sometimes d0).

Are There Indoor and Outdoor Pools?

The seasonal outdoor pool is heated and there are pool pool toys! Amazing. Have a rainy day stay? Indoor pool to the rescue! My stay was a quick one, but I did read that they have spa tubs too.

I caught up with friends and new friends for dinner at Mulligan’s Pub. They are located about a 4 minute walk from the resort, on the golf course, on property. There are a few tables inside and a large patio with seating to enjoy dining outside. There is also a bar to mix up refreshing drinks and the staff was quick and attentive to our group.

What Is The Name Of The Golf Course?

The golf course is called Sawmill Creek Golf Club. It is a Par 71 course. It was designed by the world-renowned golf architect Tom Fazio. The course is 6,700 yards. Bring credit/debit or touchless payment. Cash is not accepted for the golf course.

If you chose to dine outside, you will have a beautiful view of the golf course. The golf course is a short 4 minute walk from the resort, making it a great location to play, rest and enjoy for the whole family.

I did enjoy my stay and it was a gorgeous hotel with lots of conference space and a relaxing atmosphere.
