How to Prepare and Make Delicious Deviled Eggs

How to Make Deviled Eggs
Deviled eggs are one of our family traditions. It’s the thing we are asked to bring with us to family get togethers. Not all of them make it to the destination either. They are the dish that needs to be sampled and tested once or twice. So make extras! These are my favorite deviled eggs with relish.

How Many Eggs Can You Put In Instant Pot?
With the egg holder that fits in the Instant Pot, you can fit 18. There is the line that you don’t want to fill the Instant Pot past and you need to have a basket in the pot to keep them from touching the bottom (they could burn or discolor the egg).
What If I Don’t Have an Instant Pot?
You can boil your eggs in a pot, like we share in another article.
How Do You Get Eggs to Peel Easily?
By following the instructions below, you can peel eggs easily. We have found that if you crack the shell all over, it will allow the eggs to peel easily. Rinsing off with water cleans them off as well.

What Is the Secret to Perfectly Peeled Eggs?
Using the Instant Pot helps us be able to peel the eggs, but I think this is combination with using eggs that are 1 to 2 weeks old as well, that makes them easier to peel.

Why Did My Egg Yolks Turn Green?
The egg yolks turning green is a sign of cooking the eggs to long. Be sure to put the eggs immediately after cooking into the ice water bath to stop the cooking process.

How Do You Make the Egg Filling Creamy?
You can use a fork to break down the egg yolks. If they do not cream together with the rest of the ingredients, you can use a whisk to cream things together. If this does not give you the consistency you want, consider using a hand held mixer to blend the ingredients on high. You should not need to do this for long, to get a smooth creamy consistency.
Placing the ingredients in a plastic bag and piping into the egg whites, gives a nice presentation as well.

What is the Deviled Egg Filling Made Of?
We use Miracle Whip, mustard, a little sugar and dill relish in our egg yolk filling with a little paprika. If you don’t like miracle whip, you can use your favorite mayonnaise.

Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip in Deviled Eggs?
You can use either. Miracle Whip contains corn syrup which will sweeten your mix. If you like Mayonnaise, you may need to add additional sugar. It’s good to taste test and adjust to how you like it.

Instructions
- You will want eggs that are 1-2 weeks old. Fresh eggs, do not work well for hard boiled eggs.
- Put your eggs in Instant Pot for 5 minutes on high.
- Once done, let eggs sit in Instant Pot for 5 minutes, then do quick release.
- Place eggs into Ice water bath for 5 minutes and then peel.
- Cut the eggs long width and remove the yolk of the eggs and place into a bowl. Lay out the whites onto a tray or plate.
- With a fork, mash the egg yolks until they are fine. Add in 1/2 cup of the miracle whip, mustard, relish and sugar. Mix and if there is still some dry yolks, add more miracle whip.
- Taste and adjust if needed to your liking.
- In a pastry bag or use a disposable storage bag, place the mix into the bag (You could use a spoon instead if you like). Cut a hole on the tip and pipe it into each egg.
- Sprinkle paprika on the eggs and serve.
- If you end up with left over deviled eggs after your event, mash them up and serve as an egg salad sandwich.
- If you want to know how to make deviled egg filling creamy, I would suggest possibly whipping the mix together by hand or use a hand mixer to do it quicker, prior to adding the relish.

It gives a tangy taste to them. Sometimes they can be not so flavorful. The paprika adds a zip to it too.
Thanks Kenya!
If you ever needed that wow factor, these would be something people wouldn’t be expecting!
I hope he likes them! My family only gets them on holidays when we get together, so they are always a hit!
I have to admit, we used Miracle Whip Lite. 🙂 But yes, Miracle Whip was used! Mayo is good for potato salad!
I’m not talented enough yet, to make our own, but someday!
Thanks Courtney. It was not a lot more effort, just wished they were more chick looking. There is always next time!
Creativity DOES help kids to eat things! Thanks for stopping!
You are funny Shannon. I would recomment cutting them like normal eggs, versus tops off, as it was about impossible to get the yolk out. Make them peep out with the tops on.
Maybe you could make more than you wanted, then everyone would be happy? 🙂
Thanks! I will do my best to remember.
