St. Johns Mint Festival
What exactly is a mint festival? Well in St. Johns Michigan, it is the celebration of the mint farming heritage in St. Johns. This includes peppermint and spearmint.
The festival is held the second weekend in August, Friday to Sunday (2 p.m. on Friday and ends 5 p.m. on Sunday.)
You can drive through the area and see farms growing mint in the fields. Some local shops sell peppermint made locally year round if you miss the festival. You can also find in the flea market or arts and craft area, selling peppermint related items and other wares.
Things to do at the Mint Festival
There is something for everyone to do. You will find arts and crafts, flea market, food concessions, a parade, sports tournaments, quilt show, car show, carnival and lots of activities for kids.
There is mint everything, including oil and ice cream. Don’t like mint? You will still find something to eat here and enjoy yourself. We always find the vendor who sells mini donuts and get them drizzled with chocolate. They are really good.
Crosby Farms also does tours of their mint farm on Saturday and Sunday of the mint festival. Tours last about an hour.
Most of the activities will take place at the city park and fairgrounds. There are activities going on downtown like the beverage tent and live music, the library does a book sale, the train depot has activities. You find find out more on their Facebook page or the chamber website.
There is a hotel downtown St. Johns you can stay at, as well as motel located on business 127 north of town. Near downtown is a bed and breakfast you can also enjoy.
