Can I Use Fresh Blueberries?

You definitely can. We have used frozen, so that they don’t all pop while baking.

What Bread Is Used for French Toast?

We use Italian bread typically. You can use Texas toast as it’s a thicker toast and will absorb the liquid without becoming soggy.

You can definitely make French toast in advance. I would suggest making it the night before, so that the egg mixture can soak into the toast well. Make sure to bring your dish to room temperature before placing into a hot oven, to prevent damaging it.
