My son came home from a local event with a little cup of s’mores mix.  That is what they called it.   I have no idea how much my husband paid for that little mix, but my son loved it and wanted more.  I knew we could make it ourselves if we had the ingredients.  So I gave it a go with a large bowl we had and mixed our s’mores snack up.

I would suggest when you make your own s’mores that you add in the cereal and then mix in a little of the marshmallows and chocolate chips at a time, to make sure you get the blend that works for you.  This also allows you to control the amount of sweet you are giving your kiddo.  Chocolate graham cracker cereal would work to bump up the chocolate taste too!

how to make smores at home

In a very large bowl (a good 32 cup bowl), add in your cereal, marshmallows and chocolate chips.  Consider adding just half the bag of marshmallows and chocolate chips at first to see if when blended you get a good mix.  Add a little of each in until you have the perfect blend for your liking.

Place kid size portion in snack containers or bags.  The kids can take then outside with them while they are playing outside.  This is also a perfect treat for them to take a small portion to school in their lunch. Too big of a portion and they won’t eat the rest of their lunch.
