Is it really a Midwest party until someone shows up with bacon wrapped little smokies? One of the favorite recipes to make. But is it breakfast food or just a snack?

While making breakfast, I made this little smokies recipe in the morning and paired them with syrup. They were a hit. But they are a great appetizer for parties. Pair them with pigs in a blanket for a variety of little smokies sausages and you’ve got the start of party and game day food table.

What Ingredients Are Needed?

Do I Cook the Bacon Before Wrapping the Little Smokies?

No. You will want to use raw bacon to wrap the little smokies and secure it with a toothpick. Cooked bacon will not bend around the smokies.

How Do I Keep the Bacon From Unraveling?

Secure the bacon wrapped little smokies with a toothpick. Make sure you put the toothpick through the loose end of the bacon to secure it to the lil smokies.

What Temperature Do I Cook Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies?

We cooked them at 400F for 35-45 minutes. They are flipped half way,getting both sides browned.

Can I Use Thick Cut Bacon Strips?

You can, it will be a super thick bacon around the smokies. Thin cut bacon slices works best and will cover more smokies.

Can I Use Brown Sugar Bacon and Lil Smokies?

Yes, you can alter the little smokies recipes. Adding a little brown sugar on the bacon wrapped little smokies will give it a sweet taste. You can also drizzle a little syrup on it, instead of brown sugar.

Can I Cook This Smokies Recipe in the Slow Cooker?

No, the bacon wrapped sausages would be sitting in bacon grease. Cook the smokies in the oven on a lined baking sheet. If you want to keep them warm, transfer them into the slow cooker AFTER they are cooked and put it on low.

How Many Smokies Should I Plan Per Person?

Plan on each person eatting 4 to 5 each. If you are planning on a lot of different foods, that may decrease the number per person.

Easy Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies

Easy bacon wrapped little smokies made with just a few ingredients. The perfect sweet and savory appetizer for any party.

Ingredients

  • package of little smokies
  • package of bacon not thick sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar or more, as needed

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400โ„‰.
  • Line baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Cut the bacon into strips long enough to wrap around a little smokie (about in thirds).
  • Wrap the bacon around the sausage and secure with a toothpick.
  • Placed the wrapped sausages on the baking sheet and give a little space between for the toothpicks.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping them at 20 minutes. You want both sides browned.
  • Remove from heat and place on a paper towel. If adding brown sugar, noted below, dab on towel and place onto a plate. The paper towel will stick.

Brown Sugar Smokies

  • Before wrapping the smokie in bacon, add brown sugar on the bacon and then wrap it.
  • Secure with a toothpick and sprinkle a little brown sugar on top.
  • Bake as noted above and flip half way as well.
