- In a large bowl or pitcher, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth.
- In a small bowl, melt the butter, then stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon until combined.
- Spoon eight small dollops of the brown sugar mixture onto the baking sheet. Spaced like cookie dough. These melt into caramelized bottoms for each slice.
- Dip each slice of Texas toast into the egg mixture, coating both sides. Place each slice directly on top of a cinnamon‑sugar dot.

- Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with maple syrup.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use regular sandwich bread?
No. It will get soggy and you won’t be able to flip it, or get it out of the bowl after dipping in the egg mixture. Texas toast gives the best texture.
Why is my French toast soggy?
Too much liquid or thin bread can cause sogginess. Texas toast prevents this.

Can I double the recipe?
Absolutely. Use two baking sheets and rotate them halfway through.

Ingredients
Egg Mixture
- 8 slices Texas toast bread
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Brown Sugar Mix
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ÂĽ cup melted butter
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- cinnamon to sprinkle
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350℉
- In a large mixing bowl or large pitcher, add the eggs, milk and cinnamon and beat until the eggs are incorporated and set aside.
- in a microwave safe container, melt the butter.
- Add the sugar and cinnamon to the butter and mix together
- Place the silicone mat (or parchment paper) down on the baking sheet.
- Put a teaspoon of the cinnamon, sugar, butter mixture on the mat. You will be making 8 dots for your French toast to go, so space out, kinda like you do for cookies.
- Take a piece of Texas toast and place into the egg mixture and coat both sides.
- Remove and place on top of the cinnamon sugar mixture on the baking sheet. Repeat this for all the toast.
- If you end up with extra egg mixture, you can continue making more, you may need another baking sheet.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes.
- In the middle of the bake, this is optional, but I find it amazing, flip the toast over. This coats both sides with cinnamon sugar and the top will then crisp up. Use tongs to flip.
- Remove from the oven and you can serve with powder sugar, or syrup, whichever you prefer.
