Cinnamon Sugar Almonds  – Candied Almonds

These candied almonds (sometimes called cinnamon sugar almonds) are super easy to make in the slow cooker.  You may have smelled these cinnamon almonds while at the mall or at the fair. They are addictive to eat. These are an easy make Christmas gift or holiday party snack to make in your slow cooker!

This is not a slow cooker recipe you leave and let cook.  You have to stir them every 20-3o minutes.  So you need to make the candied almonds when you can watch them.

Allow them to cool and they are super delicious, it’s hard to stop eating.  You will need to hide them to keep from eating them all.

This is an easy recipe that would be an inexpensive Christmas gift, in a decorative dish. Perfect dish to bring  for the holidays.

How to Make Candied Almonds with Cinnamon & Sugar

You find these delicious nuts at the mall or fair. Now you can make them at home and give as gifts.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 egg white
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 16 oz package whole raw almonds

Instructions

  • Use at least a 4-quart slow cooker.
  • Use a slow cooker bag or spray the inside of the slow cooker with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the egg whites and vanilla.
  • Take the almonds and put them into the bowl with the egg white mix.
  • Stir until the almonds are coated thoroughly and appear wet.
  • Dump the almonds into the cinnamon sugar and coat thoroughly.
  • You've coated the slow cooker or put the slow cooker bag in it right?
  • Dump the almonds into the slow cooker.Make sure it is on high.
  • You will cook this for 2 1/2 - 3 hours, stirring every 30 minutes to keep them from burning and sticking together in clumps.
  • You want the nuts crispy, but not blackened.
  • About 30 minutes before they are completed, remove the cover on the crock pot, so the condensation is removed from the nuts.
  • Remove from the slow cooker and place on the parchment or silicone mat.Allow to cool before placing in your containers.

Can You Make Candied Almonds without Eggs?

Yes.  You can substitute with 3-4 Tablespoons water, instead of egg whites  You want to coat the almonds, but not have residual water at the bottom of the bowl.

How Do You Store The Almonds?

You want the almonds to be completely cooled so there is no moisture or they can sweat.  Store the almonds in an air tight container.

    1. I have used a couple tablespoons of water when we did not have eggs in the house. You need the wet to coat the almonds, so the cinnamon/sugar mix will adhere to the nuts.
