homemade strawberry lemonade
Our family loves strawberry lemonade. We usually have strawberries fresh or frozen in the summer, so grabbing a few lemons at the store makes it easy to pull together and make.
We have found that making a strawberry puree allows us to freeze the extra for later or make strawberry shortcake, another family favorite recipe.
This is a recipe that is perfect for parties or weekend meals. We have found that the strawberries will start to go bad after a couple days.
1 quart strawberries, hulled
1/2 – 1 cup sugar
Juice from 6 large lemons to get 1 cup of lemon juice
1 lemon sliced
water for 2 quart pitcher
To make it super easy, we put the strawberries and 1/2 cup sugar in a blender. This gave them a smoother texture. Mix them until they are almost pureed.
Take 1 cup of the puree and the lemon juice and add into a 2 quart pitcher.
Add the water and stir. Taste the mix to see if it is to your liking. If needed add the additional 1/2 cup sugar.
Place slices of a lemon in the mix for a beautiful presentation.
Freeze the remaining strawberry puree for additional lemonade or use to make strawberry shortcake
