Santa Hat Crispy Treats

These are some of my most favorite rice treats to make.  Making them into Santa hats was easy and they don’t have to look perfect to taste amazing. Here is what you need to make your own easy Christmas treats.

Set these out for Santa Claus with a little eggnog to elevate your gifts this year.

Ingredients:

  • butter
  • crispy rice cereal
  • mini marshmallows
  • red melting discs
  • white almond bark
  • pearl decoration sprinkles

How Soon Can You Cut the Treats Into Pieces?

It’s easier to cut them sooner, versus later.  You don’t want to wait until they have complete set, or they will be difficult.  We started melting the discs and once they were melted, we cut the treats into pieces.

How To Make Easy Christmas Treats

I would say only dip the tops after dipping and eating them.  It was easier to eat the ones that we only dipped the tops versus the ones that were submerged into the mix.

Santa Christmas Treats

Make this easy Christmas recipe. These Santa Hats are a perfect addition to your sweet treats. Made with your favorite crispy rice cereal.
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Author: Regina Sober

Ingredients

Making the Hats

  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 4 cups fresh small marshmallows

Decorating Ingredients

  • 2 bags red melting discs
  • 1 bag bag of white almond bark
  • 1 jar pearl decoration sprinkles
  • 20-30 small marshmallows

Instructions

  • In a pot, melt the butter. Once the butter is melted, reduce the heat and add the marshmallows, stirring until melted.
  • Add the marshmallow mix into the cereal and stir.
  • Wet your hands and stir together with your hands to mix the treats easier.
  • Once mixed, pour the mix onto a baking sheet and press with a spatula into place, making as even as possible.
  • Once cooled, cut into triangles and slightly bend the triangle to form a hat shape.
  • Melt the red discs in the microwave in a safe container and melt almond bark in separate container.
  • Carefully dip the hats into the red bark (we only dunked the top, not the entire triangle (but you can if you want).
  • Allow the red to dry and then dunk the rim of the triangle in the white bark and then into a dish of the pearls.
  • Dunk the edge of a mini marshmallow in the white almond bark and then place on the top of the hat.
Allow everything to dry before eating.

Notes

  • Use the small pearls versus large ones for a cleaner look.  I tried the larger ones and it looked odd to me
  • Cut the crispy treats into long rectangles and then cut into triangles to make them even
  • You can store them in zip top bags after the chocolate is dry to keep them from drying out
  • You may need a 3rd bag of red discs, depending on how big your bags are and if you are dunking the entire treat in the bark
