Easter Resurrection Rolls (Empty Tomb Rolls)

Resurrection Rolls
These Easter Resurrection Rolls are a special tradition we started making with our kids a few years ago. Not only are they a sweet breakfast treat, but they are also a simple way to share the story of Easter and the empty tomb.
When the rolls bake, the marshmallow inside melts away, leaving an empty space inside the bread. Itโs a simple visual reminder of the resurrection story that kids remember every year.
The rolls come out warm, lightly sweet, and perfect for Easter morning breakfast or before Easter dinner.
This recipe allows me to tell them the marshmallow will disappear and also share the story of Easter and the empty tomb
These rolls are a little sweet and the marshmallows melt into the bread, making a delicious treat.
They are great served fresh from the oven. If you have leftovers, they are delicious opened and warmed up, served with a little (okay a generous portion) of butter. These are great to serve before Easter dinner. You can make them for breakfast Easter morning.

What Ingredients Are Needed?
- warm water
- sugar
- melted butter
- yeast
- eggs
- flour
- cinnamon
- marshmallows
Why Did the Marshmallow Disappear?
The marshmallow melts during baking and combines with the cinnamon inside the dough. As the rolls bake, the marshmallow dissolves and leaves the center hollow. When you open the roll, the inside is empty โ just like the empty tomb in the Easter story.

What Do Resurrection Rolls Represent?
Resurrection rolls can be used as an Easter object lesson for children. The marshmallow represents Jesus, the dough represents the tomb, and the melted marshmallow leaves the roll empty after baking. When the rolls are opened, it reminds us of the empty tomb on Easter morning.
Can I Make Resurrection Rolls With Crescent Rolls?
Yes. If you want a faster version, you can use store-bought crescent roll dough instead of homemade dough. Roll the marshmallow in cinnamon. Then wrap the marshmallow in the dough and bake according to the crescent roll package directions.

When Are Resurrection Rolls Made?
Resurrection rolls are usually made on Easter morning, but many families also bake them the night before Easter or serve them during Holy Week as part of an Easter tradition.
This simple Easter recipe is a favorite tradition for families who want to share the story of the empty tomb in a way kids can see and understand.
