Delicious and Easy Apple Pie
Homemade Apple Pie Recipe
I’ve made apple pies for years. To the point where I could make them (and apple crisp) without a recipe card. This easy apple pie recipe is my favorite and my families favorite kind of pie.
You’ll want to be sure to use baking apples, like gala, granny smith, Fuji or your favorite baking apple. You will also need 2 pie crusts, homemade or store bought, doesn’t matter.
Easy Apple Pie
Ingredients:
4-6 apples (larger apples, use less), peeled, cored and sliced
bowl of lemon water
1/2 cup white sugar
3 Tablespoons flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 Tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon coarse sugar
2 pie crust
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400F.
In a bowl (about 8 cups), put 1-2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 4 cups of water.
Peel your apples and slice and place into lemon water mix (to keep the apples from browning). Drain the water from the apples once they are all peeled.
Once the apples are sliced, mix the white sugar into the apples and toss gently.
In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, flour and cinnamon.
Pour the brown sugar mix over the apples.
Place your pie crust into the pan so you can put the apples on top of it.
Place the apple mix into the pan and spread evenly.
Add the second crust on top of the apples and pinch together the edges to form the crust.
Cut slits into the top crust in the middle to allow steam to escape while baking.
Place into the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
Reduce the heat t0 350F and bake for 35-40 minutes more.
Tips:
This recipe was made in a 9inch deep pan, you may not need as many apples, and could possibly make 2 pies if you bought premade crust/pans.
Use baking apples. You want apples that will soften.
You could skip soaking the apples in lemon water while you peel, but the apples may turn brown.
Cut the apples into the same size, for even baking.
