Relax And Stay – St. Paul Hotel – Downtown Wooster Ohio

Thanks to the wonderful staff at the Mainstreet Wooster and Wayne County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau for inviting me to stay at the St. Paul Hotel located in Wooster Ohio.

My Stay At the St. Paul Hotel

The St. Paul Hotel is located in downtown Wooster and has convenient parking in the rear of the hotel.  When I arrived I parked in front on the hotel and them moved my vehicle to the back after checking in.  It’s easy to enter the hotel from the parking lot entrance.

When checking in, I was asked to fill out my selections for my complimentary continental breakfast. My room was not ready, but I was allowed to put my luggage in my room so I could continue on with my day without worry about my luggage (thank you!)   There is an elevator to the upper floors, or you can use the stairs.

Location, Location, Location

The hotel is located within walking distance to so many things in downtown Wooster, making this hotel perfect for exploring the city on foot.  The St. Paul is across the street from a couple coffee shops, including the Tulipan Hungarian Pastry & Coffee Shop. There are great restaurants to enjoy a good meal at, like Basil and Broken Rocks.

I love the history of the hotel.  Their site does a great job explaining it.  It was first named the CC Hotel in 1900.  I am thankful that the hotel has kept the charm, with the exposed brick walls, but has been modernized with amenities and beautiful decor.  Unlike the original hotel, each room now has it’s own bathroom.  And it is quite the bathroom too. I felt so spoiled.  Heated granite floors, mirror with a built in tv and the rain head shower. There were 3 options on showering (rain shower, regular or a wand).  Who wouldn’t love to have this comfort while traveling?

Comfort is So Important

When I’m away from home, I usually do not sleep well and wake up with a kink in my neck.  That was not the case at the St. Paul.  The bed was super comfy and soft.  There were oodles of pillows (and even more in the closet if needed).

You have to look in the closet, even if you aren’t using it.  There are robes in there.  Robes to use while you are there! Each room has a fridge and it has complimentary beverages.  I had to ready their hotel manual (the book on the table in the room) to make sure it was free.  I always read the book provided by the hotel to get an understanding about what they offer. You don’t?

Amenities and Decor

I will admit I was expecting this hotel to come with a swanky price tag with the location to downtown and the look of the hotel and what they offer.  Rooms start at $150.  It’s very reasonably priced for what you get.  Would I stay here again?  Oh yes and I’d bring my family.  There is wifi, so my kids would be happy.

This is a perfect traveler’s hotel to stop in and rest. Because it is smaller and there were not a lot people making noise up and down the hallway.  I only heard people in the morning opening their doors to get breakfast.

They have a beautiful suite they let me look in.  It has a private balcony with a hot tub and a sitting area in the room itself that is separated by this reclaimed metal doors from the old Freelander store (I love reclaimed stuff). This would be the perfect honeymoon or anniversary getaway.

There is a conference room downstairs as well, that looked lovely on my walk by it.  I saw a picture online of their exercise room they have.  Didn’t make it there either, we’d walked all over downtown and that met my exercise for the weekend.

When you come back from exploring downtown, be sure to stop in the lobby and sit next to the fireplace.  You could also bring your breakfast down to the lobby and enjoy in front of the fireplace, no judgment here.  It’s a hotel with a great atmosphere, friendly staff.  It’s like you are staying with family who really want you to enjoy your stay.
