Staycation: Castaway Bay Water Park and Resort Sandusky Ohio

Welcome sign for Castaway Bay

As a Cedar Point Blogger I received complimentary passes to their water park Castaway Bay for me and my family. All opinions remain my own of our staycation Castaway Bay.

Did you know Cedar Point has an indoor water park? They do!  It is down the road a few miles away from Cedar Point on Cleveland Rd (which is also Highway 6),  in Sandusky Ohio.   Have you been before? You need to grab the family & friends and go!

Castaway Bay is open year-round rain or shine.  It’s a balmy 82 degrees inside making it the perfect year-round indoor water park resort (especially if you live in a snow state like I do).

Why We Love Castaway Bay

My kids love the bucket.  It fills full of water and then you hear the chimes when the bucket is almost full.  That means it’s time to get in front of the bucket and try to get wet.  My kids waited in anticipation to get wet.  They were not disappointed.

My kids went on all the rides on their own (they are 9 and 11).  My son described the faster tube as ‘intense’ but kept going on it.  The water park is great for tiny tots and big kids alike as each has their own space to enjoy the park.

My kids loved exploring the different areas of the water park.  I appreciate that they park provides the safety vests for kids.  It gives my kids comfort in knowing they can try things and be safe while doing them. There are also lifeguards stationed around the park and different activities to watch and ensure everyone is being safe.

Stay the Night or Come for the Day

You can buy tickets for the day or stay overnight.  Need storage?  There is storage available while in the park because you are there just for the day or have checked out and want to enjoy the park a little longer.  You can rent a locker.  There are different sized lockers and they do take credit cards.  This worked well for us and we didn’t have to worry about our items getting wet or lost.

You might know it’s time to get out of the water park and rest a bit, if you got prune hands.  As you can see my son played hard at the water park.  This let me know it was well worth the trip, wearing him and his sister out meant they were going to sleep well. (and the did, sleeping by 7:30 pm!) This mom approves going back again!

Castaway Bay also has an arcade (just a section of it shown here), that you can take a break and have fun on dry land as well.

swim gear shop

There are a few onsite restaurants, so you don’t have to go out for food.  There is a snack shop in the water park.  My kids want you to know that  the snacks are ‘totally real and super amazing’.  There is also a shop onsite, should you need to get a souvenir or suit (we some how only brought half a suit for my daughter).

You can make reservations online or call 419.627.2106.
