1. Promenade Park opened in August 2019. It is the perfect place to introduce yourself to Fort Wayne or get reacquainted. Situated just north of downtown Fort Wayne, it sits along the St. Mary’s River, one of three rivers that meet downtown. Promenade Park is a one-of-a-kind park that joins natural rivers to a vibrant urban center. (1100 South Calhoun St) There are over 25,000 square feet of gardens to see and explore, including a a plant rescue. Gardens are indoors as well as outdoor gardens. 9. Science Central – is housed inside a former power and light building, which gives the whole place an industrial, historic feel before you even walk through the doors. Inside, kids can explore three floors of handsโon exhibits, rotating traveling displays, and interactive STEM experiences designed for all ages.
Youโll find everything from water play and physics experiments to the popular Science on a Sphere presentation. Exhibits change throughout the year, so itโs worth checking whatโs on display during your visit.
If your family enjoys science museums, this one is a great stop. A similar feel to COSI in Ohio or Impression 5 in Michigan, but smaller and easier to navigate with younger kids.

Explore exhibits on 3 floors (most exhibits being on the top or bottom floors). They are various traveling exhibits that come in for a time and then are go. 10. Tin Caps Baseball – Be sure to check the schedule and catch a game from the local minor league baseball team. The Tin Caps place downtown at Parkview Field.(1301 Ewing St). They are the Class A (Midwest League) affiliate of the San Diego Padres. When playing at home, you can find lots of things going on at Parkview Field for your whole family to enjoy.

11. Vera Bradley Outlet – Maybe more appealing to the gals in your life. Come shop at the Vera Bradley Outlet in Fort Wayne for your favorite bags, blankets and more (4120 W Jefferson Boulevard, Fort Wayne.
There is also a super annual sale that happens only in April where you can get up to 65% off your items. Get your tickets and make it a weekend! If you go during the week, plan on paying for parking and your tickets. If you go during the weekend, it is currently free to attend and you pay for parking.

13. Fort Wayne Museum of Art – located (311 E Main St) right next to the Square. It makes this a perfect stop after enjoying lunch. Tour the exhibits and see the beautiful art on display. They offer school tours as well.

14. Food Trucks come to Lunch on the Plaza downtown . We found something for everyone, even our picky eater! Our family got food from four different food trucks. We enjoyed pizza, grilled cheese and ham and cheese sandwiches. All were really good. While on the Square, there was entertainment and local businesses were on site as well. It was great to just sit and enjoy the scenery, like the water fountain, Helmhotz sculpture (big & red art work) and the Major General Anthony Wayne statue. Freimann Square and Arts United Plaza located at 200 E. Main St.
TIP: Bring a blanket and have a picnic!


15. Enjoy the many restaurants downtown from fine dining and casual eats. We enjoyed pizza from Pint & Slice and some coffee and sweet treats from GK Baked Goods.
