1/2
cup
butter
1/4
cup
sugar
2 1/4
teaspoons
active dry yeast
5
cups
flour
a little butter to top the dough and then the baked breads
Instructions
In a small container microwave 1/2 cup milk for 20 seconds and check temperature.
Check temp and once under 115℉, add the yeast and a sprinkle of sugar and set aside to let the yeast rise and get bubbly.
In a large measuring cup, add 1 1/2 cups milk and the butter and heat for 1 minutes.
Mix in the sugar to the milk and butter. Check the temperature.
Once the temp is under 115℉ and the yeast has risen (about 5 minutes), add the yeast milk and butter milk together.
Place the mix into a large mixing bowl.
Add half of the the flour and mix. Then add the rest of the flour and mix.
Once the dough mixes onto itself into a nice ball, it's time to let it sit and rise.
If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour until it no longer sticks to you.
Rub butter on top of the dough and place a clean towel over the dough.
Place the covered bread dough in a warm location and let sit for 1 1/2 hours.
AFfter the dough has risen (doubled in size), you can preheat oven at 350℉.
Make into loaves of bread or rolls. Be sure to let the dough rise into a loaf, rolls, etc. before baking.
Bake at 350℉ degrees 20-40 minutes until a nice golden brown on top.
You can check between rolls to make sure they are not doughy between each.
Bread will have a nice golden brown top.
Rub a little butter on top of the bread.
