Here’s the ultimate trade-worthy lunch your kids friends will beg your kids for. It may also give you mom points for being cool.
My son’s latest love is waffles. Once, sometimes twice a day. Instead of the same old waffles, I came up with this banana split sandwich, without the ice cream. It’s nice and sweet, but with natural sugars (besides what’s in the Nutella). It’s super delicious and filling! It’s a healthy alternative to a real banana split for sure (sneaking in those fruits)
We got all the ingredients we needed at our Kroger, and saved a lot of money with coupons ( you do load coupons to your Kroger card and earn fuel points right) It’s super convenient.
Approximate cost for this lunch: $1.94
What you’ll need:
2 toasted Kroger waffles (I used buttermilk, make sure they are cooled)
3 strawberries (hulled and sliced)
1 banana (cut into 1/4- 1/2 inch slices)
grapes on a skewer (or in a snack cup if you don’t have a skewer)
1 stalk celery cut into 4-5 inch pieces and cut in half.
1/4 cup Nutella
Make sure the waffle is not warm before spreading Nutella on one waffle.
Take the slices of banana and put them the waffle with Nutella on it, then place the sliced strawberries on top of the bananas.
Place the second waffle on top of the strawberries and place toothpicks to hold the top on and place in your Tupperware sandwich keeper .
Serve the waffle sandwich with the grapes, celery and Nutella (for dipping into the celery). This fits great in your childs lunch. I used Tupperware’s sandwich keeper (sandwich), midget (Nutella) and the smallest Keep Tabs container (celery). The grapes can fit in a baggie. Be sure to remove the sharp point of the skewer with pliers.
