Strange Attractions at Schaefers Auto Art: Erie Pennsylvania
Auto Art Roadside Attraction Erie Pennsylvania
Whenever we travel anywhere, I am always looking to see what there is to see eat, do and explore in the areas we travel. While in Erie Pennsylvania, I found Schaefer’s Auto Art that we had to stop and see. There is a roadside park that you can stop and see their auto art. It’s larger than life!
The art is made out of old automobile parts and scrap metal that have been turned into some unique sculptures. There is a bumble bee that looks to be made out of a cement mixer.
You are free to visit and explore the grounds to see the sculptures and get up close look at everything. There is a rocket. From a distance you see yes, it is a rocket. But when you get closer, you realize there are engines on the rocket. Just beautifully welded together and painted.
Who cannot stop and pause to take a picture of the lady bug!? It is HUGE! I think it’s a spider bug now. And if you are stopping by near the holidays, you might see them decorated.
In looking for information on this attraction, I found they have a website where you can purchase merchandise. This would be a great souvenir to have of your trip or for the gearhead in your life.
What you need to know:
- visiting is free
- there is a mailbox where you will find cards inside to leave feedback of your experience
- they have an American flag made from license plates (and it’s huge!)
- see the two headed dinosaur
- parking is on the side of the road
- the road can be busy, use caution
- bring your camera
- location: 3705 Hershey Rd, Erie, PA
Have you visited this roadside attraction? This was on our way from Niagara thru Pennsylvania and on to Ohio.
