Shabby chic frame
My daughter won a chalkboard from a class we went to recently. I loved it as it fits with my farm house. She didn’t feel it matched her room, so I offered to shabby chic it and paint the frame to have it better match her room and my daughter was all for it, if she picked the color.
What we used:
spray paint for metal
painters tape
1 foot binder twine (to hang)
Start by picking a color that will compliment the room you want your frame to go into.
We taped around the edges of the chalkboard and then laid strips of tape covering the entire chalkboard. I could have used paper to cover the middle, but that didn’t happen. That is another way to save tape (and money).
We laid the frame out in the grass away on a calm (not windy) day and sprayed a thin layer of paint on the frame. In ideal conditions, you should probably do this on a surface away from dirt.
Wait a few hours and gave the frame another coat of paint to finish up the job and ensure we didn’t miss any spots. Brought the frame inside and allowed it to dry overnight (actually it was several days as we got busy and forgot about it).
Remove the tape.
Take the twine and tie on so you are table to hang it on the wall. Put a nail in the wall and you are ready to begin using your frame.
What frame do you have that could use some sprucing up?
