If you love Apple Pie, here is a way to to make them quickly in an Empanada.
You are just about 15-20 minutes away from an Empanada (including cooking time).
You can use a can of apple pie filling or what you canned yourself.
Any fruit filling you like will work, I just picked apple as it’s my favorite.
make homemade pie crust
Ingredients:
Pie Crust (or package of pie crusts)
Apple pie filling
white sugar
1 teaspoon of milk
how to make empanadas
Preheat oven 350 degrees.
Take the pie crust and roll it out.
Using the small bowl, cut circles into the pie crust.
Take about 1-2 tablespoons of onto the pastry (too much will cause it to squish out!)
Close the pie crust on top of itself and close the edges with fork.
Cut 2-3 holes in the top to allow steam to come out.
brush milk on the top of the pastry and sprinkle sugar on the top.
Cook for 10-12 minutes, until brown at 350 degrees.
Wow, it looks amazing! The truth is I have been taking Argentine cuisine cooking classes recently in Dirty Apron which is considered to offer one of the most popular cooking classes in Vancouver, but they never told us about the possibility of making sweet empanadas. We learnt to fill them with “carne”, “pollo” or a vegetable mix, so I definitely should try this one out. There is also one more difference, we don´t use an empanada maker but roll it by hand which is also a lot of fun when cooking with someone!
Sounds you had fun with your cooking class. You can take your favorite fillings and put them in them. I hope you enjoy!
I’ve never seen an Tupperware Empanada Maker…how cool! Definitely want to try this with apples, pears and blueberries, date and nut fillings too. Maybe it would work with hummus? Or peanut butter and jelly! 🙂
Thanks!
Such great suggestions on other fruit. If you like hummus I’m sure it would work, and yes on PB&J. You could cut bread and squish together.
Yum! Those look so tasty and very easy to make. It would also work well with other fillings, I imagine.
Yes they would work with other fillings too Tonya. Blueberries, cherries, peaches, whatever you love. Even if you wanted to use meat, you could do that too.
Good snack size. And quick to make.
Definitely a great snack size. I hope you enjoy.
Not a big apple fan myself but my sons father would love these.
I hope your son enjoys Christina. It is something he could definitely make himself (if hie’s old enough).
om nom nom! I need an empanada maker!
