My son found pine cones in our yard. Mom, I want to make bird feeders with them he said. He listed out all the things we needed to make the project. This is my son’s project on how to make a pine cone birdseed feeder. It was quick and my kids enjoyed doing this. Every day they check to see how much the birds have ate.
What you’ll need:
birdseed
pine cones
1 foot string for each pine cone
peanut butter
knife to spread peanut butter
plate to roll seeds onto pine cone
Pine cone bird feeder
Take the string and and tie a knot into the top of the pine cone. Also tie a long loop into the string so you can hang the pine cone when completed on the tree.
Take the peanut butter and knife and spread it onto the pine cone, getting into the grooves of the pine cone.
Take the plate and put a good portion of the birdseed down onto the plate and begin rolling the pine cone into the birdseed. Press the birdseed into the peanut butter so that it won’t fall off and is evenly coated.
Once you are done, you can take it outside and hang the pine cone in a location you can observe the birds eating the seeds. Make sure to hang it onto a branch that will not drop the pine cone and will withstand a little wind.
