Big thanks to Shari’s Berries for send me their delicious (and huge) chocolate covered strawberries for National Ice Cream Day.
I whipped up our favorite strawberry ice cream recipe (just 4 ingredients).
With July being National Ice Cream month, we have been celebrating every way we can We have ate ice cream sandwiches, drumsticks and root beer floats.
Celebrate with ice cream
We love a good vanilla ice cream so we can add our own toppings. When it comes to making our ice cream, the kids love experimenting with different fruits (and it’s one way I get them to eat fruit).
Look at this beautiful strawberries from Shari’s berries. They are not just dipped once, but twice. Can you see the layer of white chocolate underneath the milk chocolate? They were super juicy and delicious. The chocolate was creamy and decadent.
The strawberries come with sprinkles and some have nuts. You get to decide which one you eat or enjoy and have both!
My kids discovered them in the fridge and some mysteriously went missing. I found out by my daughter telling me ‘those strawberries are delicious’ as she went back for more and her brother following suit and getting a berry for himself, twice.
We made a toppings bar, including Shari’s Berries and everyone made their own sundae. The kids took whole strawberries.
The berries were so beautiful, but chopping them up, they made an awesome topping to the ice cream.
How are you going to celebrate National Ice Cream Day?
What is your favorite ice cream flavor and how do you top it?
It sounds like National Ice Cream Day went off without a hitch in your house! We had a delay and celebrated today with root beer floats because yesterday was another rainy day and didn’t feel like an ice cream day. I need to try your Strawberry ice cream recipe!
Root beer floats have ice cream! I hope you enjoy the ice cream, it’s creamier than in the stores because it calls for heavy cream.
Shari’s Berries are the BEST. My husband gets them for me for our anniversary and Valentines day and Mother’s Day and I’m always looking forward to it . Love how you used them for toppings for ice cream. I have a hard time chopping them up, I love devouring them whole! haha.
I found that if I let them get to room temperature, when it allows the chocolate to warm up at bit, they are easier to chop. And I used a large chef’s knife because they are huge! Love that your hubby gets them for you throughout the year! Can you tell mine to??
Argh – we were travelling and missed ice cream day! Didn’t want to chance getting horrible ice cream in the airport!
You can still celebrate National Ice Cream month in July! Enjoy!
Oh my! I love whats happening on this page, whip cream, Banana, Ice cream and happy faces. I’m going to try some of this on Saturday for my birthday. :}
How cool, your birthday is during National Ice Cream Month. You can celebrate your birthday every day..or just use it as an excuse to have ice cream! 🙂
We love chocolate covered strawberries but never tried them with ice cream. Thanks for the idea! I’ve heard a lot of good things about Shari’s Berries.
They are huge and delicious. We ate a few and chopped a few up and ‘sprinkled’ them on as a topping too.
Yum! I love Shari’s Berries. I’ve never put them on ice cream, I just enjoy them by themselves! For ice cream, I like chocolate peanut butter.
