delicious spiced apple cider

I always know when Fall is here, the apple orchards in the area start making cider, or selling the jugs they stored over the winter.  I really love apple cider, but get me some hot spiced apple cider and I’m in heaven.

It’s a delicious warm a cup full of Fall flavors.

You can make this in your slow cooker for your Halloween or Fall festival party.  I just like to have it around the house.  You can make this up and once completed put it back into the container it was in and serve yourself a glass when you want.  Warm it up in the microwave or on the stove.

Ingredients:

1 gallon apple cider
1 cup brown sugar
2 stick cinnamon
2 teaspoon whole all spice
2 teaspoon whole cloves
spice bag

Instructions:

Pour the cider in to the slow cooker.
Add the brown sugar in and stir.
In the spice bag add the cinnamon, all spice and cloves and close the bag. Place the bag into the cider and allow it to steep into the cider 4-6 hours. Note: I used ground up all spice and it made a mess.

Once I’ve made my spiced apple cider, I like to also use it when I’m baking.  Spiced apple cider adds lots of flavor to my pork and chicken recipes.  It gives muffins an extra kick of flavor too.

Spiced cider reminds me of Halloween parties with the neighbors and hay rides around the neighborhood, wrapped in layers of blankets to keep warm or standing in front of the bonfire to keep warm, toasting marshmallows and hot dogs.
