I have washed the same load of laundry for 2 maybe 3 weeks. There are good intentions of putting them in the dryer. I promise myself that when I start the cycle to wash it, that today will be the day that the this will be the cycle that I get the laundry to the dryer. And I have failed. This is the third time they have been washed. Apparently I’m making forgotten laundry a trend.
It’s not that we don’t need the laundry. We do. And in all honesty, we have a washer/dryer upstairs and one downstairs. The one upstairs, I had to wash those twice before they made it to the dryer. So the one I pass by every day. The one I look at and think oh crap. Yes, that one. I just don’t stop and throw the clothes into the dryer.
It’s not because I’m lazy. I just have other things I’m doing. My mornings involve getting up with the kids. I could stop and get the laundry going then. But I don’t. One of the problems, and not an excuse (but it can be), we don’t have a light in the ‘laundry room’. We remodeled the bathroom next door and that somehow involved the entire ceiling coming down in the laundry room (I forget why). So if there is no natural light in there, you are in the dark or working by the light of the dryer. And it ain’t pretty.
forgotten laundry – excuses excuses
So I think I’m on excuse 3 now. I hate doing laundry. I like clean clothes. But I have no idea where some of these socks go. My son has 10 pairs of socks. For a week I couldn’t find any of them. So he got to wear mine instead. They have since appeared or some of them were lying in the bottom of an unfolded basket of laundry. (I hate folding laundry too).
Our family is busy. I’m busy. But you think because I work from home all day, my house is spotless and dinner is on the table by the time my husband gets home. WRONG. I WORK from home. I don’t tend to the house, I’m working. Conference calls, meetings, research. and more meetings. I spend all day sitting in one spot of my house, working. So by the time the end of my day, laundry doesn’t sound like fun. I’ll get a text from my husband, ‘should I bring food home‘ and my response is ‘yes if you want to eat‘. And the husband tries another ploy with me today. 5:45 a.m. He asks what I want for dinner. Yeah, that is exactly what I’m thinking as soon as I get up. What can I cook for dinner! I think he understood my icy stare back. Unless we plan food, it’s going to be take out. But this is about laundry.
Don’t get me started about how we ran out of spoons (I think they have legs because the dishes are done!)
So this is how life is for me. I can’t be alone. What is your least favorite task to do at home, do you have forgotten laundry? How long have you left the laundry in the washer/dryer? Do you live out of the clean laundry baskets during the summer or year round? Spill the details!
p.s. here is proof the laundry made it to the dryer. AND as a bonus I turned it on!
