Ham seems to be a dish we serve during the holidays. We usually buy a couple when they are on sale and freeze one for later. We made this honey glazed spiced ham for Easter recently and it was delicious. Something we will be making again. My husband came up with this sweet and spicy glaze.
We buy a precooked ham. All we really need to do is slowly cook the ham and glaze it. Allowing the glaze to infuse into the ham. It’s a dish my dad will call and ask, can you guys bring the ham to dinner.
honey glazed spiced ham
1 spiral ham, precooked
1 cup water
40 whole cloves, or until your fingers hurts and you cant do it any more
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
3 tablespoons pineapple juice
2 tablespoons spiced dark rum
1 tablespoon salted butter
Preheat your oven to 350.
Place your ham in a pan with the water. Press the cloves randomly into the outside of the ham. I did this until my fingers hurt and I stopped (about 40 cloves). Cover the ham with tin foil.
Allow to cook for 30 minutes and make your glaze.
In a pan add all the ingredients to make the glaze and stir. Bring to a boil and remove from the heat.
We took the BBQ baster and put the glaze in the different layers of the ham, turning the ham on it’s side.
Cover the ham back up with the foil and put back in the oven.
This recipe does take a few hours to cook, so this makes it a easier recipe to manage on the weekends.
So many good leftovers can be made with this too. Ham sandwiches, ham and bean soup, ham and eggs, omlets. So many great dishes!
Now it’s your turn. Who will you make this honey glazed spiced ham for?
